HAIKU / SENRYU

honking geese depart
once green leaves die brilliantly
winter's herald – fall

older tunes re-worked
improvised with style and flair
bring forth all that jazz

like a summer breeze
music warms a dreary soul
toes begin to tap

cloudy window panes
newly marked with crooked trails
raindrop’s running course

crocuses protrude
through quickly melting crystals
spring arrives up north

geese flying northward
to fertile green mating grounds
life will be renewed

buds look to gray skies
heads raised in supplication
weeping clouds answer

clouds and memories
pushed aside to look ahead
bright sun lights the path

skies darken quickly
unseen forces stir the wind
tornado alley

fall’s slanted sunlight
leaves dappled with golden spots
predicting their death
rare heat in april
riding the southerly winds
buds are exploding
