A Perfect Birthday
A dinner shared,
The food was good
Because she made it.
The wine was perfect
To loosen pent up feelings.
We shared times past,
Times with others in our lives,
Some of whom left memories
Both pleasant and otherwise.
Simpatia prevailed.
A tear appeared on her cheek
To be softly brushed away;
The moment an imprinted memory.
She came closer,
Brushed my cheek with hers.
That was not nearly enough.
I gently touched her face.
She kissed mine,
Neither was that enough.
My hand rose to her cheek,
It felt so right
To draw her lips to mine.
To taste anew of soft, sweet kisses,
Pleasures savored,
New memories to draw upon.
The evening ended too soon
Leaving me older but much happier.
