The Second Gift
The ‘Friggin’ Elf’ once gave a gift
That has o’er the years brought me pleasure
You now have brought a second gift
It’s one that I’ll equally treasure.
I empathize with the dry spells
When inspiration is lacking
The sound of your voice has stirred me
To wake up and just, get cracking.
And so dear Dorothy Spencer
(I would much rather call you Dot)
Know that the second Spencer gift
Means much more than simply ‘a lot’
We know at the start of a new year
That one day we both will be gone
But until then good friend of mine
We both should keep on keepin’ on.
